Who am I?
I am Koinange Wahome — a public servant and design thinker, and the current County Secretary for the County Government of Laikipia. I am someone who believes that leadership begins with listening. Before any title, I am a person committed to seeing our county work better for every family that calls it home.

What is my current role?
I serve as the County Secretary for Laikipia County — the most senior administrative position in our county executive. It has placed me at the very heart of how our government runs, and given me an honest, ground-level understanding of what is working, what is failing, and what we must change together.

Why should the people of Laikipia trust my leadership?
Because I have already done the work — from within government, not from the sidelines. I have served with discipline in Kenya's disciplined forces and with distinction at the highest levels of county administration. I understand how government truly functions, and I know how to make it deliver for you.

What drives me?
A simple sense of purpose: to improve lives, bring fresh thinking to public service, and help build a Laikipia that is inclusive, secure and full of opportunity. For me, public service has never been about position — it has always been about people.

What experience do I bring?
My journey bridges two worlds — public service and private enterprise. I have worked across public safety, trade and policy, public finance, community development and international diplomacy. That breadth has taught me both how to keep our communities safe and how to grow the economy that sustains them.

Did I serve in the disciplined forces?
Yes. I am proud to have served with distinction in Kenya's disciplined forces — an experience that shaped my discipline, my sense of duty, and my deep commitment to the safety of every community I serve.

What is my educational background?
I hold a Master's degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, complemented by a range of other academic and professional qualifications. I have always believed a global outlook should serve a local purpose — and mine is Laikipia.

Have I worked outside government?
Yes. I have led consultancies in diplomacy, security and surveillance technology, logistics, and international trade — bringing private-sector discipline and innovation to the service of the public good.

What kind of leader am I?
A listener first. I begin with the people a challenge affects, seek to understand their needs, and only then design solutions alongside them. I call it leading with empathy, and it shapes everything I do — from building strong teams to engaging citizens directly. I have no interest in governing from a distance.

What do I believe good leadership looks like?
I believe a leader should stand with the people, never above them. The best ideas come from the community itself, and my role is to listen carefully, act honestly, and deliver results you can see and feel in your daily life.

What is my vision for Laikipia?
I am working toward a Laikipia that is inclusive, secure and economically empowered — where our families are safe, our young people have real opportunity, and our government earns trust by serving with purpose. To me, this is not politics. It is personal.

What office am I seeking?
I am offering myself to serve as the next Governor of Laikipia County. It is the honour of my life to ask for the trust of the people I have already spent my career serving.

Why am I running for Governor?
Because Laikipia deserves a government that listens, serves with purpose, and delivers results families can see and feel. As County Secretary, I have served at the very heart of our county administration — I have seen both what is possible and what must change. I am ready to lead that change, together with you.

What makes me ready for this role?
I am not coming to learn county government — I already know how it works from the inside. I have served with discipline in Kenya's disciplined forces, led at the highest level of county administration, and built expertise in public finance, public safety, trade and diplomacy. I understand how to make government deliver, and I am ready to put that experience to work for Laikipia.

How is my campaign different?
Mine is a consultative campaign. I do not arrive with ready-made promises — I come to listen first. Every priority I carry forward is shaped by the voices of the people I meet in our markets, our churches, our farms and our forums. The manifesto we build will be yours, not mine alone.

What kind of Governor would I be?
A Governor who stands with the people, never above them. One who keeps the door open, consults before deciding, leads with empathy, and is held accountable for results you can see in your daily life — clean water, real opportunity for our youth, and a county government you can trust.

Which party do I represent?
I am proud to be associated with the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) — a movement built on a simple but powerful idea: that the people, not the leaders, should give political direction. DCP exists to put citizens back at the centre of their own affairs.

DCP is guided by one core philosophy: Listening to the People. It is a party that believes leadership flows upward from the community, not downward from those in office. Its mission is to build a Kenya — and a Laikipia — that is governed in the genuine interest of ordinary citizens.

It means I do not see leadership as having all the answers. It means I consult before I act, I sit with grassroots and opinion leaders, and I let the wisdom of the people shape the direction we take together. For too long, leaders have dictated to citizens. In our movement, the people lead and we listen.
